Update 1
As we wait to get the footage to begin prepping the plates for compositing, Wren Pellant, another Compositor and I are creating Guides for everyone in both the Savannah and Atlanta campus on compositing to get everyone to up speed for the project. So far we have recorded, Keying along with Tips and Tricks for organization.
We are in the process of creating a walkthrough of all of the Gizmos we are going to use for the project, along with a script I made that allows the user to automatically copy over all of the Gizmos from a shared folder we have on the computers at Montgomery Hall to their .nuke folder for both Linux and Windows. Additonally, to allow for everyone who will be compositing on the project to be extra on their A game, Wren and I have put a companin study guide that is an updating list of supplemental information for each walkthrough we have done and timestamps that are helpful for watching the recorded videos.
Here is that doc:
I think we may release those videos publically, but I will update here if that changes.
Introduction
For the next ten weeks as one of my last classes while at SCAD, I am helping with a collaboration class that is set up as a student led production with faculty assistance to be during class time, with full SCAD resources. The production has been going on since Fall Quarter (Sept 2025) and will be finishing out at the end of Spring Quarter (May 2026).What makes this different from previous collaboration classes is the cross campus component! The Atlanta Campus is also running a class at the same time we are (Savannah) to get this project done.
I am most excited about the fact the project has live action footage with full CG characters that will be fully intergrated and will have to interact with the live action characters. It is something I have had some experience with, but this project is allowing me to expand upon my skills to the next level. My role for this project is the Compositing Supervisor. This entails that I along with the VFX Supervisor (Quinn Victor) will be incharge of deciding master shots, then I get to composite them and turn them into template for the rest of the compositing team to follow. These typically by the virture of what they entail are the hardest shots on the project, and I'm so excited to get to push myself this quarter. Additonal People of note for the project:
Tori Felts - Producer
Quinn Victor - VFX Supervisor
Carolyn Kiszla - CG Supervisor
